The Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF) has launched the Tech Connect: Empowering Youth to Become Global Citizens project, engaging 1,920 students from eight countries across Asia, Africa, and North America with a view to having cultural exchange activities, global citizenship workshops, and artistic performances.
On Tuesday, GYRF hosted the project's inception ceremony, unveiling the Learning Bangladesh Module, supported by the Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO (BNCU). The event brought together educators, government officials, school leaders, and students to discuss the initiative’s vision and implementation roadmap.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on Partnerships), the project fosters digital learning and intercultural collaboration. Through cultural performances, digital interactions, and global networking, students will develop skills to become responsible global citizens while proudly representing their country.
Key speakers at the event included Md Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary (Development), Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, and Zubaida Mannan, Deputy Secretary General, BNCU. The Learning Bangladesh Module highlights Bangladesh’s history, geography, culture, and achievements and will be distributed to partner schools.
Sadia Jafrin, CEO of GYRF and co-author of the module, emphasized that Tech Connect is not just an educational project but a movement that bridges cultures through digital learning and artistic expression. Schools and students from Bangladesh and international partner institutions actively participated, expressing enthusiasm for the program’s potential in developing cross-cultural competencies, digital literacy, and leadership skills.
The initiative will conclude with a global showcase event, where student performances will be presented to an international audience.
